Submersible Sewage and Effluent Septic Tank Pumps
TYPES OF SEPTIC TANK PUMPS
Septic tank systems might require various types of pumps based on the specific needs of the installation, the type of waste they handle, and the layout of the system. Here are some common types of septic tank pumps:
HIGH HEAD EFFLUENT PUMPS
High Head Effluent Pumps are most commonly used on an aerobic septic system as the are only designed to handle clean and treated wastewater. These pumps are used for spray irrigation and sprinkler systems, underground drip irrigation systems, and some mound systems.
EFFLUENT PUMPS
Effluent Pumps are for handling effluent (liquid waste) after solids have settled in the septic tank. They do not need to handle large solids, so they can have smaller impellers and require less power. These are normally used to pump from a septic tank to a secondary treatment system such as a leach field or drain field.
SEWAGE EJECTOR PUMPS
Sewage Ejector Pumps handle raw sewage with large solids up to 2 inches in diameter. These are most commonly used to pump wastewater (including raw sewage) from a home, out building, office, etc. to the septic tank or gravity city sewer main. Sewage ejector pumps can push high volumes (100+GPM) at low head pressures.
SEWAGE GRINDER PUMPS
Sewage Grinder Pumps grind up solids into small particles before pumping. Grinder pumps are suitable for applications with tougher waste and high pressure requirements, such as long distance pumping or pumping into a pressurized city sewer main.
